Gas Line Explosion – Geary and Parker Avenue

On February 6, 2019 at 1:18 p.m., a four inch gas distribution line exploded in San Francisco.  The explosion caused 5 buildings to burn at Geary and Parker Avenues.  Preliminary investigation into the matter appears to show that a Kilford Engineering, Inc. employee caused the rupture by using a backhoe to dig into the ground, striking the gas line.  The work being performed was for purposes of installing communications cable for Verizon.  Mastec appears to be the general contractor, as well as Advanced Fiber Works, as a subcontractor.
